Available Workshops

Help students learn strategies to meaningfully discuss difficult topics.

CIVIX offers a series of professional development sessions to support bringing the PoliTalks program to the classroom and to help teachers create spaces where constructive discussion can thrive. Workshops will introduce educators to resources featured in the Constructive Discussions handbook and PoliTalks classroom lessons.

Elementary Workshops (Grades 4-8)

Participants will get an introduction to the PoliTalks Elementary resources in a hands-on workshop. Learn how to create a discussion-friendly classroom and get your students to start practicing skills in perspective taking and active listening.

Workshops are 60 minutes and held via Zoom.

Secondary Workshops (Grades 7-12) 

Participants will get an introduction to the PoliTalks Secondary resources. Create discussion-friendly classrooms, learn about why it’s hard to talk about politics and social issues, and prepare your students to engage meaningfully in difficult discussions.

Workshops are 75 minutes and held via Zoom.
